Speculations About The End of the World

It's how mankind works.

From the first human alive to the last human alive there will always be someone speculating the end of the world. If you have ever communicated with another human being you have most likely heard some speculation and if not you will see some here.  As you probably know none of the speculations made about the end of the world have come true.

However with 2012 rapidly approaching speculations have been becoming increasingly popular and will only become more popular with coming time. With paranoia increasing some people just make up some nonsense and put a 2012 tag on it, but a lot of speculations are not very popular. There are a few that are extremely popular though, and have a lot of supporters. I myself however am not a supporter of these speculations.

Michel de Nostredame or Nostradamus- One of the Prophets who predicted doomsday 2012.
Michel de Nostredame or Nostradamus- One of the Prophets who predicted doomsday 2012.

The main speculations.

Currently the main doomsday speculations are pointed at the year 2012. Specifically in December some sources have claimed. There are three main speculations that are said occur to in 2012, but all predict a different outcome on apocalypse. Two of these said speculations are set to occur in December of 2012, and one specifically being on the 21st of December.

Nostradamus- This man has made some of the most popular speculations of all time, and you better believe he has something to say about doomsday. Some of his most popular work has supposedly predicted the fall of the Twin Towers and the rise of Hitler. In one of his works he has said that global disaster will occur in December of 2012 via a comet or meteor. One of his specific quatrains that mentioned possible doomsday was “In the sky will be seen a great fire dragging a trail of sparks”. That pretty much is talking about a comet or meteor with a fire trail behind it. I personally I am not a huge fan of his work. Mainly because he is very vague with most of his predictions.

The Mayan Calendar- The Mayan calendar is another main link to doomsday 2012. The reason for this is that the calendar suddenly ends on the date December 21, 2012. This has been a controversial subject because some say it means that the Mayans thought that the world will end on that date. Other however say that this is false and it is just the calendar going to its next B'ak'tun or time period. It still however adds to some peoples speculation on doomsday.

The Web Bot Project- This was initially a program created to scan the internet and find pattern in stocks and predict changes. However its creators eventually found out that it could predict world events. Some world events that it allegedly predicted were the terrorist hits on the Twin Towers and the Space Shuttle Disaster. This little program also has speculations on doomsday with its sight also on 2012. This one predicts that sometime in 2012 World War 3 will begin and will lead to global apocalypse. Just like Nostradamus I personally am not a fan of this mainly because it has very vague and imprecise predictions.

There are many other predictions on the end of times, such as one pointed at the year 2027 where a comet is supposedly going to pass very close to earth. However no matter what you believe is going to happen you are going to increasingly be facing these speculations over the next year or two.

Ha. Yeah insurance will be pretty dead beat if enough people believe in these prophecies.

Mysticists like to misinterpret Nostradamus. For example, they claimed a reference to a dictator and the word "Hister" being mentioned meant Hitler. But the Ister is an ancient name for the Danube River. If you want to try to link a dictator to the Danube you can do so easily, since it's the longest river in Europe. Napoleon's first battle, the Battle of Austerlitz, was near the Danube. Alexander the Great was born in Macedonia, within a few dozen miles of it. And dictators like Ceaucescu likewise, so take your pick!

Yeah that is why I am not a huge fan of his work, because it is easily misinterpreted, and doesn't always have a clear meaning. That is where I think the 2012, or any prophecy for that matter fails. They only tell half the story.
